Please briefly describe your most successful experience with the iPod for this 9 week period.

  1. The students really respond well during transition times when I play a three minute song. When the music runs out, they know to be in their seats prepared to move on to the next subject.

  2. I have been using the IPod to play songs to review language arts and math skills. The students enjoy learning this way, and it also helps to get a little movement into the day. I have also put all of the basal reading stories on the IPod, and we listen to those weekly.

  3. I use the iPod daily to set the mood in my classroom, time "one-song" breaks, and to get the wiggles out. I have great plans for the use of the iPod once I get everything downloaded and going.

  4. I am using the iPod to play classical or relaxing music during student work time. I have also been using certain songs for transition times. The students enjoy the music and it helps them react quickly to the task.

  5. I use the ipod daily to welcome my students into the classroom in the morning. My students also enjoy when I play music during the day to allow them to move around or to introduce a new topic we are going to study.

  8. All the songs I used to play by CD, I now play with my ipod. Songs for phonics, calendar, rest time, transitions. etc... It is so much easier than switching CD's!

  9. I use my ipod daily to signal transitions to my students. For example, when lining up I play "Hands to Yourself" by Jack Hartman. The students know exactly what to do when they hear the song being played!

  10. I play the ipod during independent work time. When it is time to move on to the next thing I tell them at the end of this song we are going to be finished. This seems to help with their time management.

  11. My students are generally very well-behaved. However, they get excited anytime we line up to go to an encore class. I play the ipod to signal we are getting ready to leave. They quiet down immediately when they hear the music. I also have begun playing music while we are working independently.

  13. It has not been easy for me to get accustomed to using the i-pod. I am rather technically challenged and this has not easy for me. I have learned a lot, but I have more to learn. I can do several things now and my children think the i-pod is neat! I am hoping to use the i-pod more effectively next term.

  14. I am planning to upload all my CD's to my ipod over fall break so that I can use it in place of my CD player. I already use music alot in my classroom for circle time, nap time, quiet working time, transitions, and of course for movement. I think the ipod will be easier and faster than CDs.

  18. I downloaded the story "The Little Engine That Could" from itunes. I played it while students worked on making paper bag puppets, It caught their interest and several chimed in the "I think I can" chorus.

  19. I use my new i=pod each day to play our "get started song". My helping hands pick a song & we walk around the room to the song doing motions, claps, snaps, etc. We have used it for our going home songs too. I use the i-pod to play music while the kids are working as well.

  22. In the early childhood classroom(K) I have often used music for preparing for transitions,movement and learning skills through the repetition of a song. I am excited that I don't have to go to my CD player and locate the CD . I will enjoy using the Ipod and developing new ideas and purposes for it.

  24. I use the iPod to welcome students to our room each morning. We also play music often during work time. My students will request for me to turn on the music. I believe it is soothing for them to hear while working independently. I have also tried to find songs that they think are "cool"!

  25. I've been using music in my classroom for several years now. The students love it! It's amazing to see how they learn routines much easier when they can associate a song with a particular activity. Before getting my iPod, I had all my songs on CD or in my iTunes library, but the iPod makes it even more convenient! Love it!

  27. I use the ipod daily to do our get started song as well as listening to different generes of music while they are working. When we switch classes, I play "Switch" & when the song is over, the class knows it is time to start. My kids enjoy the music & I received a few i-tunes gift cards from my kids to include more songs on the ipod for our classroom.

  28. I use my ipod all day! It is so much easier to find the songs. I have begun playing soft music during centers. It helps them have better control of their voice level. They know if they can not hear the song, their voice is too loud.

  30. I use my I Pod for certain activites in my room. When it is snack time, I play "Yummy Yummy Yummy I've Got Love in my Tummy." Also, I downloaded all my reading stories from our reading book so the students can listen to the story from the I Pod. I also use it for independent work time, and also for "brain break." I will play a song and we will do movements to it in between subjects to get those dentrites flowing and get their wiggles out as well.

  32. I continue to use my ipod to transition from morning start up work to subject areas. The kids love to be able to get up and move while we transition to our next subject area! I have also been using the ipod during creative writing time. I will have them brainstrom or write a sentence or two about something they have brainstormed and give them a time limit of a song or two to help us pace ourselves as we write. This has really helped my kids with pacing.

  33. I am so enjoying using my IPod. I have put most of my learning songs from Dr. Jean and Jack Hartmann on them. Jack Hartmann has a lot of "Movin to Math" songs. I often play these as a warm-up to math. During the holiday season, my children enjoyed listening to holiday music. I also have bought "My Hero, Zero" from the Schoolhouse Rock collection on ITunes. I am planning on using this on one of our Zero the Hero days.

  34. I am using my iPod often during math time to play songs reviewing math songs by Dr. Jean. I use it to review counting by 2's, 5's and 10's and odd and even numbers. The students connect to the music.

  35. As a postive reward my students are able to listen to the ipod at their desk with their headphones for 30 minutes or be the DJ if we are listening as a class.

  37. The iPod has made the use of music in the classroom much easier. I can quickly scroll to the classical list for writing time or the active list to get the wiggles out. We often use it as a timer. "You have 2 songs to complete this task in....."

  38. I use the iPod to play specific songs to signal to the students specific tasks. For example, I play the Andy Griffith theme song to signal the end of our work time. I play "Hands to Yourself" to signal they are to line up to leave the classroom.

  39. I use the Ipod as a "mood" enhancer for my classroom most often. It has also been a great tool for using with our reading series. Downloading the stories is a great idea. Individuals, small groups, or the whole class can listen as needed.

Using the Ipod for transitions in the kindergarten classroom is my favorite way to use the I-pod right now, A classroom full of kindergarteners singing away and happily and cooperatively complying with the request of the song .... pick up ,tidy up,name on your paper....is so much more pleasant than a teacher who has to request over and over.

  44. I have used my i-pod every day since it has been given to me. We do our get started song in the mornings & I let the students pick the song & control the i-pod on/off. When we switch classes I use it to play our switch song. When that song comes on they know what to do without any other direction.

  49. I continue to use the ipod on a daily basis. It has really come in handy on all those cold, rainy days when my children need a little extra movement. I have several songs that require the children to listen and follow directions, a very important K skill!

  51. I downloaded my Social Studies Cd on i-tunes and then loaded the songs to the i-pod. Now a have more of a variety of songs to use with my morning meeting board. My TTU practicum student is going to help me group some songs together so I can search for them quicker.

  53. I am continuing to use the IPod for movement and also for teaching. The children really enjoy it and I have found that it is much easier than having to locate a CD and find the correct number for the song. I have put my reading stories on there, also, so that the kids can listen to them.

    I've been using my Jack Hartmann music to review math skills and "get the wiggles out" since we returned from spring break. As the weather is getting warmer, the kids seem to have a tougher time sitting still, so this accomplishes two objectives at the same time.

  56. I have begun using time with my Ipod as a reward in my treasure box. It is almost always chosen first. They will wait another day for it if two people fill their charts in one day. It is really great!

Their favorite thing is to listen to relaxing, classical music during independent work time. Because using the ipod has been so much easier than dealing with CDs, I have used more music in my classroom this year.

  62. To be quite honest, my children have taught me lots about the ipod. I knew nothing when I got it. I couldn't even download. Now we do all kinds of things. What a great way to keep all our various media items together in one spot. Not only are my students getting a tremendous benefit, but so am I!!!
